Natana J. DeLong-Bas is author of Jihad for Islam: The Struggle for the Future of Saudi Arabia (forthcoming), Wahhabi Islam: From Revival and Reform to Global Jihad (rev. ed., 2008), and Notable Muslims: Muslim Builders of World Civilization and Culture (2006), co-author of Women in Muslim Family Law (with John L. Esposito, rev. ed., 2001), Editor-in-Chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Islam and Women (2013), Deputy Editor of The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World and Oxford Islamic Studies Online (2008), and served on the Founding Advisory Board for Oxford Bibliographies Online – Islamic Studies. A member of the Academic Council for the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, the Advisory Board for the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Vice-President of the American Council for the Study of Islamic Societies (ACSIS), she is an expert on the Arabian Gulf, women and gender, Islamic family law, and terrorism and extremism and serves as a consultant to the United Nations, the media, and the US and international governments and corporations. She is Assistant Professor of the Practice of Theology and Islamic Civilizations and Societies at Boston College.
